Some History of Seay racing and karting. The name Seay has been synonymous in kart racing for decades.

Beginning in the late 60’s, Henry Seay opened a small kart shop called Triple “C” Karts and Parts. Stocking Dart A-Bone and Margay chassis along with McCullough motors, Triple “C” helped supply many parts to area karters in Spartanburg, SC.

In the early 70’s, the Seays’ opened Melrose Park Speedway and promoted races for nearly ten years on the asphalt oval nestled in the mountains of Saluda, NC. Melrose Speedway was the start for many of todays top name drivers in the Southeast. At the age of 11, Chris set a long standing track record on the 1/5 mile asphalt oval with a lap time of 10.27 seconds. This record was set on a Margay Panther X Junior with Goodyear Bluestreaks and an alcohol burning Mc101.

The track was closed in 1978 but the Seays continued to enjoy the sport of karting and toured the country running a variety of sprint asphalt, dirt and asphalt ovals, roadrace, and street races on 2-stroke, 4-stroke and shifter karts.

The name Seay represents and wealth of information rooted deep in every aspect of karting. This knowledge carries over to the meticulously fabricated and machined components and products produced by Seay Hi Performance.
